Have you stopped to breathe today??
I know it sounds pretty funny, because we all need air to survive; but when is the last time you intentionally took the time to breathe. To feel the air as it slowly fills your lungs and the warmth of it as it smoothly reemerges into nothingness? No longer yours; yet there.
Here’s an exercise we have found to help us focus on a particularly hectic day, to feel “grounded.” Bonus points if you do this outside and in a ray of sunshine!
Start by taking a comfortable position, or slow down your stroll…
And set your intention. Having a 30 second timer set the first time could be beneficial, if you’re prone to a wandering mind. As a first timer, its easy to say, I’ve tried meditation… its not for me. Or its endless, or I just cant do it. As with all things, we cannot master the trade without practice. Start at the bottom and slowly climb in minutes or seconds until you’re able to focus only on your breathe with minimal distractions.
Clear your mind.
& when you lose track of your thoughts, gently acknowledge them, and focus again on the breathe.
Take gentle breathe in, on a four count and gently exhale on a four count.
See if you can gradually extend your count and your practice.
We have found Meditation to be incredibly beneficial to our focus and we hope it makes a big difference in your life as well.
